How often to change your engine oil

Advice from Plano auto repairThese days, vehicles are built with much more reliability than they used to have. But regular oil and filter changes are the most important preventative procedure to extend the life of your vehicle.

As engine oil ages, it becomes diluted and contaminated, which leads to premature engine wear.
Most vehicle manufacturers recommend an oil change once a year or every 7,500 miles in passenger car and light truck gasoline engines. For diesel engines and turbocharged gasoline engines, the usual recommendation is every 3,000 miles or six months. Make sure the filter is changed as well, you don’t want to deposit old contaminated oil back into fresh oil.
