Does the waltz and ballroom dancing in general burn a lot of calories?

Looking for a fun new activity to help stay in shape. Always wanted to learn the waltz. Thanks!

It may not in your first few introductory lessons, but once you begin to work on your technique in earnest, it’s a very good workout. Beginners also often think the slower dances like slow waltz, foxtrot, and bolero (if you’re dancing American style) are easier because of the slow tempo, but later they discover that’s not at all the case.

They did the vienesse waltz and I loved the music, just wondering what it was called and if anyone knows.

The song is: Jeux d’eau (from Cirque du Soleil’s "O").

I need a 1940’s to 1960’s song like a Waltz for my 15th birthday party?

Posted by admin on December 30th, 2009 and filed under waltz | 2 Comments »

Ok well i am having a quinceanera in January and i need a nice cute waltz song. My theme is old fashioned Hollywood! I want it to be a real easy song to dance to because i need to choreograph it soon and show it to my court of honor so any suggestions please!

My personal favorites are done by Enya, Cake, Blackmores Night, Weird Al, and the Asylum Street Spankers. Altho Brad Paisley, the Beatles, Blondie, Grateful Dead, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, and Charlie Daniels band had some nice ones also.

But 40’s to 60’s? Thats rough. I dont tend to think of them that way.
Old Hollywood theme? Hmmm….

There actually is a song named "the Hollywood Waltz" by the Eagles
but Im not real impressed by it for a quinceanera

How about "Rich Fantasy Lives" by Tom Smith

That would match the theme and no one would recognize it.

or maybe some everyone would recognize from Disney?
"Once Upon a Dream" from Sleeping Beauty (also can be found as the Sleeping Beauty Waltz)
"A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes"
"the Princess Diaries Waltz"

Or "Nevlille’s Waltz" from the Harry Potter movie?
Or "Potter Waltz" from Harry Potter

Probably one of the most recognized tv-and-movie waltz’s would be
"Somewhere My Love" (also known as Lara’s Theme)
or "Waltz of the Flowers" (also known as Fantasia)
also the song "the Godfather" from those movies but I wouldnt recommend it

which song in the grinch soundtrack is a waltz?

Posted by admin on December 19th, 2009 and filed under waltz | 1 Comment »

My dance teacher has this beautiful song on his iPod that’s a waltz from the movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas, but he doesn’t know the title and artist. There’s no dialogue or lyrics in the song; it’s instrumental, but it’s one of the most gorgeous waltzes ever. It would be great if I could get an answer. Thanks!

Well since the soundtrack is all songs recorded by artists and cast members, i’m going to guess that you meant the movie score since that’s the background music with no dialogue. The composer for Grinch was James Horner, and he composed some great songs for this score. I THINK the one you’re looking for is called "A Change of the Heart," which happens toward the end of the movie and has a beautifully haunting melody since this is the part of the movie where the Grinch decideds that he likes Christmas aferall. If it ends up not being that one, try "The Shape Of Things To Come," "Memories of a Green Childhood," "The Big Heist" or "The Sleigh of Presents" which are the only other songs on the score that doesn’t have some type of talking. Hope I helped! xx

Where can i find Flower Waltz in nintendogs Dachsund and friends?

Posted by admin on December 16th, 2009 and filed under waltz | 2 Comments »

i want to teach my dog to do a back flip and on video on youtube said to play Flower Waltz and i don’t know where to find it so if you could help me that would be GREAT!!! :D

Thank You!

Well you find that record on a walk. You can also teach you dog back flip without the record.

Here is how to do it.

First teach your dog sit. Then teach it Jump. Once you dog can sit for 6 seconds straight, and your dog can jump constantly, you combine them and your dog does a back flip.

*just remember to not pet your dog after it sits, just immediately say jump and it will sometimes back flip*

♥Hope this helps

I’m going to have my quince soon and i need to find a choreographer for my waltz. does any here live near oakland/richmond/berkeley/emeryville area?
or maybe you know somebody that has done choreography
in a quince? please help!!!!

You should inquire at Allegro or Just Dance studios. They both teach variety of styles and have good dance teachers. Keep in mind that efficient but expensive hour might be more worthwhile than a a few hours of less expensive lessons. You should discuss it in advance how many hours are you planning to spend with the teacher.
