How can I enter a poetry competition, that’s free to enter?
I’ve wrote an amazing poem, and I want to submit it to a poetry competition. But i don’t know how to go about it, does anybody have any ideas. The competition has to be free to enter, and based in the UK, thanks!
My local library has leaflets about a free poetry competition. It is run by United Press Limited in London, UK. The closing date is June 30th. It is open to UK residents of all age groups. 250 winners will be published in the next National Poetry Anthology and receive a free copy. One lucky winner will also receive £1000. For more information go to www.unitedpress.co.uk

http://www.your-poetry.com/ — that’s a free site you can Summit your poetry and people can make comments on it or give you advise not a comp but they will be able to tell you if it is any good
http://www.poetry.com/contest/contest.asp —- this apparently a free contest it gives you dollars though so I don’t know if it would be any use to you
http://www.poetsagainstthewar.org/submitpoem.asp — this one is the same as the first but I think there are comps on it too

If your amazing poem really is that good , then others will judge its merits, suggest you look at the first answer you have received and note the links , obviously some research done here , well worth the effort on your part , good luck.

Entering poetry contests is pretty easy.
Getting into a legitimate contest is a lot more difficult.
Most free poetry contests these days are really ploys to sell books.
"We’ll publish your poem for a small fee."
Of course they will. And put it in a pretty binding. And tell you that the poem will be available for musicians to write your lyrics up and make you infinitely famous.
You won’t get famous, and no one will read your poem, because even the worst writers get into the book for a fee.
And it’s not available to the public.
So don’t fall for them. And don’t pay anything.
Been there, done that.
