How do you enter the International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition?

How can a person qualify and participate in the International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition?

I’m writing a short story and it’s critical that I have this little piece of information. Thank you.

To compete in the International Chopin Competition, you first have to win the National Competition (see the link below for entry details).

This is for the US National Competition; I suspect that other countries have their own national competitions (where the winners go on to compete internationally.)
