performance and art venueSynapsis is a collective of people creating various projects and is also a venue for people to bring their projects here. We have hosted many artists and performers during the past three years. These include Keith Hennessy, Shinichi Iova-Koga,The Slits, Bonnie Prince Billy, The Z’s, local rockers’ production of Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Faun Fables, GHQ, The Plot to Blow Up the Eiffel Tower, Rocky Horror Picture Show, 999 Eyes Freak Show, and many other independent touring acts. We strive to create opportunities for people to experiment with performance. We are interested in new forms and genres and people who seek to push the edges of existing genres. New and odd approaches to dance, theater, music, culture, and society are especially sought. We also appreciate the application of traditional training in new ways and are excited by hybrid/mongrel forms. Artistic freedom is important to us and we try to maintain as open of an environment as possible. At least 95% of our events are all ages and we do not have a bar at our venue. Many of the shows here are "no one turned away for lack of funds." If you are interested in bringing an act here, please contact us through our booking page. Synapsis also features a small art gallery and is part of the Eureka Arts Alive scene. Our gallery is currently closed to the public but we expect to reopen soon during the construction process. Please contact us (also through booking) if you would like us to take a look at your portfolio. |
