Synapsis

reopening project

Reopening Meetings take place every 2nd and 4th Sundays 7-8:30 pm at Synapsis!

At the end of December 2006, Synapsis received a visit from the Eureka Building Inspector and the Fire Inspector.  Since that day, our little warehouse pirate-ship has been closed to public events.  Rehearsals, art projects, and meetings continue to develop behind our doors, but we have not been able to hold large-scale happenings.  We are currently working to reopen our space.  This is a significant endeavor.  It certainly takes more time and money than we would like, but we are determined to do what it takes to reopen.

We have greatly appreciated the help we have received from city officials in this process.  We realize that the city requires that establishments meet certain codes.  We are doing our best to meet these codes and see this as an opportunity to develop who we are in relation to the city.  We still are creating events and working on projects, but are using other venues for our public front.

Synapsis is working in partnership with The Placebo and Empire Squared on this project.

We greatly appreciate everyone’s support and contributions thus far.  In order to address zoning violations, we will go before the planning commission in July or August to make our case for receiving a conditional use permit.  Soon after this, we will begin construction to address building, fire, and ADA accessible violations.

We still need more help!!! If you would like to help plan a fundraiser, please contact Synapsis.  Also, money is greatly appreciated.  It is pretty phenomenal how much happens because of money…We vow to be as resourceful as possible with all donations!

Many thanks to the people who have helped make Synapsis thrive for the past three years.  We value your continued involvement.  Thanks also to Libby Maynard and The Ink People, John Ash/JAG Architects, The City of Eureka, Eureka Main Street, The Northcoast Co-op, The Studio, 321 Coffee, and all the rest for your help both now and in the future.
