Salt Lake City Attractions – The Family History Li
The Family History Library located in downtown Salt Lake City probably contains the largest single collection of genealogical records in the world, and it is still growing. The library has genealogical data from over 110 different countries. Assistance is provided by volunteers at the library and an orientation is given which includes a map of the library and other helpful information.
The information in the library has been collected from various organizations including government records, church records and records from individuals. Some are in book form while many others have been converted to microfilm and computer form. The records are generally organized by geographical origin. Normally the best place to start researching your own family history is to start with the information you already have and work back from there so you may want to bring along copies of records and information that you already have.
