tsirkus picaresque

A revolving band of rogues and roustabouts gather together under the name The Tsirkus Picaresque. Somewhere on the edge of time, in between the Outlands and the Citadels, lies an unmarked territory. It is in this windswept region that the Tsirkus Picaresque troupe wanders. The troupe consists of acrobats, trapeze artists, minstrels, tricksters, and scavengers. Their misadventures and idiosyncrasies shape their relations to one another and how they cultivate a wayward sense of family.
The Tsirkus Picaresque puts on a stellar show that is woven within the story of their lives. The audience enters to discover they are already in the midst of a lively midway, complete with carnival games, tricks, tarot readings, penny popcorn, oddities, and family hijinx. Watch out for Charlatan’s Medicine Show and the wild stories of Gondola Trench (or Trenchie, as we lovingly call ‘im). Be aware of wild beasts and the shrew comments of Lady Chance… After passing through the midway, the audience enters the living room of the Picaresque troupe. In between daily chores and family business, an intriguing show takes place. Riddles are wrought and entanglements snare the family in mystery as they struggle to find clarity in a difficult world. Outlanders and Rulekeepers push from either side.

The Tsirkus Picaresque twice performed at Synapsis in 2006 and is an ongoing project of Synapsis members. The Tsirkus produced a burlesque show in July 2007. Members of Tsirkus Picaresque are available for private parties and events and are currently working on a new production.
