Deer Hunters – Stay out of the Woods

If you went to work one morning and someone had set up a blind that looked like the wall, would you notice? Sure you would. The same is true for a deer in the woods. They notice weird stuff! You are “in their home”.

Instead of being “in the woods” you need to become “part of the woods”. And the easiest way to do that is to dig a hole! If you can dig a hole you can bag a deer.

Find a good spot during the summer and dig a hole about four feet deep. This is a great strategy for many reasons:

1) You can see “under brush” easily to see feet coming at you.
2) Your scent is greatly masked under ground
3) You will not get cold from breezes or wind
4) You can put a chair inside that hole that is comfortable
5) You have the steadiest gun rest ever made (the ground)
6) If for some reason the target sees movement they usually think you are a small animal
7) Lastly it will keep you from getting shot while hunting!

Blankets, small ground blinds, good rifles and quality hunting scopes are really about all a person needs and your chances of success will increase dramatically.
