Does the waltz and ballroom dancing in general burn a lot of calories?

Looking for a fun new activity to help stay in shape. Always wanted to learn the waltz. Thanks!

It may not in your first few introductory lessons, but once you begin to work on your technique in earnest, it’s a very good workout. Beginners also often think the slower dances like slow waltz, foxtrot, and bolero (if you’re dancing American style) are easier because of the slow tempo, but later they discover that’s not at all the case.
